GUI - Graphical User Interface

When taking Instructional Design into consideration, the GUI Design – Graphical User Interface – is one of the most important aspects to consider.

Not only is it important to know the user and how they are going to use the interface, a successful GUI has the following:
  • User control
  • Intuitiveness
  • Quick reponse rate
  • Clarity
  • Consistency
  • Clear paths
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Appropriate controls and tools
  • Logical content organization

Hi, Yvonne:

The Graphical User Interface (GUI) was introduced approximately 30 years ago, and consisted primarily of file folder and document icons that could be copied and pasted. That was it.

The GUI has come a long way since! To learn more about the GUI, visit Bill Moggridge's website: http://www.designinginteractions.com/chapters/1
